Lunar New Year 2020

What’s happening at Nunawading Homemaker HQ for the Lunar New Year?

Lucky Lion Dance

On Saturday 25th January at 10.30am and 2.30pm join us for a Lion Dance.

The lion dance emphasizes good luck, fortune and wealth it brings to those present. The lion gives out oranges for the lucky guests to symbolise good fortune and wealth coming in both family and business. The lion then spits out the lettuce to everyone as a sign of good luck and prosperity for everyone.

There’ll be a full live musical percussion performance, and a choreographed performance.

You’ll also find a Blessing at approx 2.30pm at Focus on Furniture on ground floor and BASE Camp Kids on level 1.
BASE Camp Kids will also run Lunar New Year art and craft activities (free with entry to BASE Camp Kids) from 11am till 1pm on Saturday 25 January.
Please join us.

The year of the Rat is upon us.

The Rat is associated with the Earthly Branch (地支—dì zhī) Zi (子) and the midnight hours. In the terms of yin and yang (阴阳—yīn yáng), the Rat is yang and represents the beginning of a new day. In Chinese culture, rats were seen as a sign of wealth and surplus.
